“Green technology” is a demand of today’s world and more specifically in India we should start and highly promote the use of green technology and products made from it. As increasing population of our country is one of the main reasons behind the declination of natural resources. As the population is increasing, its needs and demands are also increasing and to meet all those needs manufacturing and use of various electronics is on high demand. These electronic devices and items are manufactured by using various chemicals and materials which when enters in the environment causes great harm.
Modernizations have made our lives easy but at the same time the use of this modern technology based on chemicals and hazardous materials is hazardous for our environment. Advancing innovations in the field of electronic gadgets and up gradation of technology used in these gadgets on a regular basis is encouraging the electronic world to manufacture more and more products. As technology is advancing day by day so as the electronic gadgets are coming in latest versions, styles and features to attract consumers and bribing them for using those latest features in enhancing the amount of electronic waste generated.
These electronics are made up of plastics, uses chemical substances in them; semiconductor materials etc. which when disposed or dumped as such in the environment are hazardous pollutants spoiling the natural resources like soil when dumped in landfills and water when dumped in oceans. To stop this increasing amount of electronic waste or e-waste generation we should adopt the use of green technology which is safer. To protect our environment and our mother earth we must have to concentrate on the sustainable use of our natural resources to conserve them, cut-off the addition of hazardous waste in environment in the form of e-waste and we should make efforts towards utilizing green technology and its products which will not have any negative impact on our environment.
Electronic gadgets based on green technology should be promoted by the government and private sector. Firstly, we should make our people learn about green technology, its benefits and its use. As India is a young country we should encourage our youth towards green technology. Youth is the power of any nation, if you wanted to improve something or to implement something for the betterment of the country target its youth because they are the one, who are ready to learn, teach and adopt something new. For this we should make them learn about the green technology by developing courses and teaching them the use and benefit of green technology and how it can be implemented. As student will do courses in green technology they will be in demand in industries and by doing this we are encouraging green technology in industries.
Secondly, old or non-functional electronics or e-waste of no longer use or in demand, which were based on old technology of using chemical materials or semiconductors should be collected and there should be a proper procedure to dispose them in some kind of incinerator, so that the hazardous chemicals will not go in the environment and hence protecting our natural resources from being getting polluted. While getting rid of the old electronics these should be recycled so that they can be reused and there dumping will not harm the environment.
Thirdly, the government should have to take strong actions in this by encouraging the manufacturers to employ green technology in their products. Government should bribe them by releasing funds and opportunities for the manufacturers for employing the use of green technology in developing electronic devices. Not only manufacturers but also consumers should be encouraged for buying green technology based electronic devices which in turn will encourage the manufacturers for employing green technology and thereby decreasing the amount e-waste generation and producing eco-friendly and sustainable electronics.
Government should also include more number of environmentalists and environment authorities so that before the approval of launching any electronic device in the market the environment authority will scan the product at every step for making sure the non-hazardous aspect of the product in the environment. Before the launch of any electrical gadget in the market it should clarify the label of an ecofriendly and sustainable electronic product. This action will compel the manufacturers to develop more green electronics and thereby protecting the environment.
“Green electronics” were based on organic, biodegradable and biocompatible materials so that when they are dumped they will not emit or release any toxic and hazardous material in the environment. Bioplastics should be used in making the shield or cover of the electronic device. The semiconductor materials used in electronic devices should be replaced by the biocompatible substrates or polymers so that there won’t be any need of developing any special incinerator for the dumping of these green electronics. Naturally occurring materials are all biodegradable and biocompatible so we should make more use of these natural substances for developing electronics.
Polymer electrodes are to be used in electronics to replace metallic electrodes. Sensor chips or diodes and cables used in electronic should be made with the biocompatible polymers or biosynthetic materials which is of greater efficiency. We should increase the use of natural and non-hazardous biocompatible materials in electronics. Aluminium in inorganic material is considered as green substance, graphene and borosilicate glass are also biodegradable which are used in making transistors, electronic tubes, circuits etc. Graphene is elastic, tough, lighter and hardest material known so it can be used in a variety of ways and can be explored for a large number of applications in the electronic devices. Apart from this we should enhance the use of natural materials like cellulose, gelatins, gums in developing signal transducers, sensors etc.
Green technology and its devices should be promoted among manufacturers and consumers. Green materials to be produced according to their need in an electronic device, so as to ensure its greater efficiency and sustainable future. Green electronics are emerging in today’s world and it’s indeed the need of the hour. So we all have to promote the use of green electronics because it is the only way for the sustainable future of electronics. We need to explore more and more possibilities of using and employing green technology in electronics.
Nature will only allow the material of its own kind to live long with otherwise it will be degraded and die one day making life on this planet worst or more precisely there will be no life at all. So now we have to think Green, choose Green and act Green.
